Competition Information
Steel Challenge is a new fun event added to the 2022 APES games in an effort to get more competitors involved in shooting sports.

This event is designed for anyone to take part and ‘give-it-a-go’. Previous firearms experience is not required.

A Firearms Licence is not required to compete in this event. All shooting is done under the direct control of 2 Range Officers with the competitor standing still at all times.

Competitors will be under the immediate supervision and control of the Range Officer(s).

Firearms will be available for competitors to use. The firearms being used will be the CZ P-10C Optic Ready Semi Auto 9mm Pistol (with red dot sight).

Firearms Storage
Firearms Storage will be available at the local “Gun Supplies” Shop. We are still working on the procedures for this and will update in due course.

Description
Steel Challenge is scored by the time it takes to shoot and hit 5 steel targets within a distance of 8 to 20 metres with 5 second penalties for misses.

Steel Challenge will be shot over 4 different stages, each stag is shot 4 times, worse time per stage is dropped and not counted towards your total stage time.

All four stage times are added together to give your final score, with lowest overall time being declared as the winners in each category.

Minimum rounds per stage is 20, Minimum match rounds is 80 (that;s if you can hit all 80 targets without missing!!).

Competitors have a number of categories to choose from as follows:

  • Super Senior (65+)

  • Senior (50+)

  • Ladies

  • Police

  • Civilian

Ammunition will be available for sale at the rane on the day of the events. Price for 50 x 9mm 124gr FMJ will be $25.00.

Competitors can bring their own ammunition, but this must be factory ammunition (No Relaods).

Practice Days will be announced in due course.
