W1: This is a 8km Race for experienced paddlers - both ruddered and rudderless options available.

W1 - Gender Categories

  • Individual Male

  • Individual Female

W1 - Age Group Divisions

Individual – OPEN 18 - 29 | Masters 40+ | Seniors Masters 50+ | Golden Masters 60+ | Masters 70+

W1 - Note: Organisers have the right to combine divisions if there are not enough competitors in a division. We require 4-5 in a division for the division to be valid.

W6 (6 Person Event): This is a short course sprint race.

W6 - Gender Categories

  • Male Teams

W6 - Age Group Divisions
There will be no Age Group divisions for the W6 event.

W6 Race Categories

  1. 25om - This will be a straight sprint. 6 people required.

  2. 2km Short - This will be a 2km short race. 6 people required or 5 people if you require an experienced steerer provided by the organisers.

 

W12 (12 Person Event): This is a 500mcourse with a turn.

W12 - Gender Categories

  • Mixed Teams - each team must consist of minimum 1 male and up to maximum of 6 males in the waka during the race.

W12 - Age Group Divisions
There will be no Age Group divisions for the W12 event.

W12 Race Categories

  1. Open - This will be a 500m race with a turn. Basic paddling skills are required for this Race Category with a confident steerer. 12 people required.

  2. Novice - This will be a 500m race with a turn. This event will be ideal for teams with limited paddling skills. 12 persons required for this category. Organisers can provide a steerer to assist the team if necessary

In the spirit of fair competition the novice race is intended for new-ish paddlers to compete with other new-ish paddblers. Please only have a minimum of 1 and maximum of 4 experienced / competitive paddler(s), who can provide steering and general support during the race.

Equipment
W1 waka can be made available for hire, but contact must be made with organisers upon registration.

All W6 and W12 waka will be provided by event organisers.

Paddlers will be required to supply their own life jackets and paddles. These can be arrange by the organisers with prior arrangement.
